The name, the Country Hitching Post, was inspired by a country hitching post of course! Back in the 1800's, a trip to the general store would require somewhere to tie up your horses. That is where the hitching post came in! A hitching post is a post to which a horse (or other animal) may be tethered to prevent it from straying.
Of course, we don't use hitching posts these days but if you're in town, stop by and hitch your horse or mule to my post and enjoy a good tale.
