Here it is!
It's 40 ft.
It's used but really nice!! I'm so happy and excited!
Every time I think about the stuff I can do with him in the round pen, I get excited! I can now work with him loose and don't have to have him on a lead or lunge line.
When the sun starts a shining, this round pen's gonna get a lot of love! =)
Here is a picture so you can see how it is relative to the other parts of the our yard. That's the garden fenced in over there.
Here, I'm taking the picture from up on the hill that our house is on.
Now, I'm down by it looking back up there. I was standing on the hill to the right of the house. You can see a little bit of Chester's fence and barn up there.
Lovely round pen!!
(Oh, that's our play house over there to the right.)
When we got home, Chester came over to his fence and watched us unload the round pen from the trailer. Then he stayed out there when we set it up. He's one smart horse!
We are planning on putting sand in it. But we're taking it one step at a time! =)
Yay! I love our round pen, unfortunately, it is buried under snow right now. I can't wait to get to use it again.
ReplyDeleteVery exciting!
Wow, you must have a lot of snow! I would think snow might be a little better then rain....but I haven't had to deal with snow, horse wise before. =)
DeleteWoohoo! That's awesome!
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! I wish our round pen had sand in it.
ReplyDeleteOh that's really cool! I remember how it was when we first got ours! I'm very excited for you and hope you will learn a lot from using it! What type of round penning are you planning on?

Thanks Heather! I am planning on doing basic ground work with him, teach him to free lunge, practice tricks with him (not just in his yard) =) hopefully use some of his energy up by lunging him and whatever else I find to do. It will be nice though, to be able to work with him in a fenced area. I have never had that before on our farm. Besides me putting up the three and half ft. hot wire that was never on. =)
DeleteWhat do you guys do in your round pen? I don't think mine is big enough for riding. Maybe at the most a little trotting.
Right now I'm mainly working with my new mare Kat. She isn't real used to being ridden so her steering isn't the greatest. So what I'm doing is riding her in our round pen so I has those barriers to help me with things like getting her used to leg pressure; such as side passing, bending, and flexing. I have done round penning with some of my other horses but that was in our arena. We just recently took the panels down so that is is smaller and ROUND. Round penning in a rectangle doesn't work very well! Anyway have fun with your new pen!

Thanks, Heather! It's nice to hear what other people do in their round pens and I appreciate you taking the time to share with me! That all sounds great! Maybe I'll be able to do some of those things with Chester this summer.

ReplyDeleteCongratulations!! How exciting! I would be excited too, thinking of all the things you'll have the opportunity to do with him in the pen.
ReplyDeleteHope you had a great weekend :)
Thanks Jazzmin! Now I just hope summer will hurry up and come! More sun and time! =)
