Liquid Sunshine

Right now we are getting a lot of liquid sunshine. Rain. While a lot of people are dealing with really really cold weather, like -30, we get rain. Don't get me wrong, we did have cold weather and it was cold. But it has warmed up and now rain is here!

What have I been doing with Chester? Well, I have this new years resolution, to work Chester, at the least, once a week. That can be hard for me this time of year though. The ground is soggy. When I mean soggy, I mean, slipping, sliding and foot deep whole made by my wild pony that wants to run free!
He as so much energy right now! I will have to do a post on my "round pen"/area where I work him. So you can see what I mean. =)

So, while I'm keeping in mind that I need to get in one "good" day of ground work with him each week, I'm hoping the rain will go away.
In the mean time I'm working on tricks with him! I got some peppermint treats for him- so today he got to enjoy a different treat. Most of the time I use carrots, as that's all he likes. Today he got both though!
I'v been teaching/working on kissing, something else, (which is a surprise right now) and I recently started teaching him how to hug. Right now, he's just doing the "hug" for the treat but is doing good! He is really improving on kissing. Just needs to be a tad more gentle...=) He does it really fast and then wants the treat. Such a funny boy! He is definitely a smart horse. No doubt about that! And the "other trick," he's coming along on that really nicely too! ;)

Stay warm and dry, Ya'll!

                                                                     Yummo!!

Don't We All Dream? And Winter Care For Horses.

Don't we all want to be like this with our horses? Or at least dream about it with the little girl that is within your heart?

I have been really busy the last few days and have slacked off of my blogging. I am hoping get back on track though and keep going with the thirty day challenge.
But, I have been keeping busy with Chester and made wonderful memories with him and been faced with challenges with him too. I am hoping to make some other blog posts rather then just the thirty day challenge.

I wanted to encourage you guys a little bit. If you guys are getting busy in life, challenges are coming up, things are changing, people are coming and going, your discouraged, excited or sad.....my encouragement?......(First look to the Lord for His peace and joy. Which He will freely give if you ask.)....But, also, go hug your horse. = ) Pause for a moment and count your blessings. Be thankful for the horsey friend that the Lord is allowing to be in your life right now. And for friends and family that are there for you. Christ is always there for you and is willing to carry your burdens. You just have to hand them over to Him.

Hey guys, I had this idea. Winter is coming and we are all getting ready to care for our horses in colder weather and perhaps wet rainy weather, I was wondering if you all would want to share your winter "tricks"/techniques for taking care of your horse during the winter. You could send them to me, then I would make them all into a post and post it on my blog for everyone to glean info from.
Your advice/tricks/techniques don't have to be that long, (they could be one sentence) or they could be a couple paragraphs. Up to you! I would give you total credit and have a link to your blog along with your advice.
Let me know what you all think! If I get enough people that want to do it, I will do another post letting you all know what we're going to do.

Happy Trails Ya'll!

I'va Been Thinken Bout Bloggin; Where I stand as a blogger.

Recently, well, more like the past few months, I have been thinking about what type of blogger I want to be. For instance; do I want to be the type of blogger that blogs every day, twice a week, perhaps whenever I have time, or maybe one big post per week? And then I think, well... do I do long posts, short posts, whatever I feel like? But do people like consistence posts, or do they like the randomness?

I decided to ask you guys- what type do you enjoy following? And what type do you guys enjoy reading?

The Country Hitching Post: Turned Horsey

I decided to make The Country Hitching Post, an all horse blog. So from now on I will be posting anything horse. From pictures to quotes or even articles. But mainly, about my horse Chester. About the daily things I do with him and our adventures together.

If you would like to see other things that are going on around the farm, besides the horsin around, go to my website called Country Girl.
Ya'll have a fantastic day!
